Hello and welcome to Frugalish! My name is Kevin and I’ll be your guide here. Before I tell you what to expect here at Frugalish, let me tell you a little about myself. I have worked in the Information Technology field for over 15 years and live in Atlanta, GA with my wonderful wife and two young sons. Some of my hobbies include technology, the outdoors, cooking, and learning new things.
I have always had an interest in financial topics. I have fond memories of my Macro Economics class in college. At one point I even considered going back to school to get a degree in Economics, but I never made that a reality. I’ve been a listener of the NPR Planet Money podcast since almost day one. Clearly if I’m listening to nerdy money podcast about CDO’s and the financial crisis, financial topics are something I enjoy!
So what can you expect to read here? This won’t be a website where I teach you save 70% of your income and retire by age 35, tell you about the best couponing methodology, or provide instructions on how to make your own laundry soap. There are plenty of other websites on the internet that do those things. Instead, I hope to teach you sound financial practices that will allow you to save toward your goals while still spending on the things you care about. Along the way I’ll share some of my own tips on how my family saves money, budgets, and how we discuss and think about money. There will be some relevant financial news discussions and many other financial adjacent topics. You will also see posts related to my hobbies above and how they weave themselves into our financial story. Think cheap and easy recipes, technology to save you time or money, and other hobby related themes.
I’m aiming for the posting schedule for this website to be about once a week. I don’t want to inundate you with information, but hopefully what I do write about will be of enough value that you’ll stop by a handful of times a month to see what’s going on.
So what exactly is Frugalish? Well, that’s a good question! For some time now I’ve used that term to describe my own money habits. If I had to put it into a definition, I think it would be this. Frugalish; being frugal on the things you don’t care about and spending money on the things that matter most to you.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you here again soon!
